Supporting Scotland’s first dedicated junior women cycling team
18 January 2024
Women’s sport has made great progress in recent years but it’s still a long way from equality of opportunity, participation and recognition. This is particularly the case for cycling where male riders and teams benefit from a lot of support.
To help young female athletes reach their full potential Ryden is sponsoring Scotland’s first junior women’s cycling race team, the Solas Race Team.
Eight young women have been selected for the team and will be given professional support specifically to nurture their talent. The riders are Daisy Taylor, Kayla Dinnin, Isla Easto, Molly Evans, Evie Field, Harriet Hendry, Isla McCutcheon and Millie Thomson.
Ryden’s sponsorship, alongside other supporters Ark Estates, Highland OS Group and Wilderness Scotland, will help fund the team throughout their 2024 season.
The team has already had a superb start winning the Senior Scottish Championship in the Team Pursuit. In doing so they qualified for the British National Track Championships in Manchester this February which will be their first big event. There they will be racing against the best in the UK including those heading to the Olympics in Paris.
“The World Cycling Championship in Glasgow last summer gave many of us a chance to see the excitement of racing first hand so when we heard about the launch of professional support specifically to nurture the talent of young female cyclists in Scotland we jumped at the chance to help.
Ryden is passionate about promoting equal opportunities within the property industry where we operate as well as the wider community. If our contribution can help nurture talent and remove barriers in sport through sponsoring the Solas Race Team we want to play our part. We are excited to see what the year ahead will bring for these incredible young athletes.”
