Solas Cycling Team Keeps Shining in Recent Competitions
08 July 2024
Solas cycling team, Scotland's first junior women's cycling race team and sponsored by Ryden, continues to impress with their recent performances across the UK.
At the 2024 Junior National Time Trial & Road Race Championships in Newcastle Emlyn, South Wales, our riders demonstrated extraordinary determination while competing against the UK's best junior riders, many of them will soon turn professional. Our team once again gave 100% in a challenging yet rewarding experience for their growth.
On Saturday 29 June, Harriet Hendry, Evely Field, and Kayla Dinnin tackled a challenging hilly Time Trial course, with Kayla delivering an impressive 11th place finish. Daisy Taylor, Isla McCutcheon and Molly Evanson joined the rest of the team on Sunday for the Road Race course. Unfortunately, Isla Easto missed the race due to illness.
In the lead-up to these championships, the team also achieved excellent results at the Scottish Cycling Scotia Women's Series Races held across the country.
In Duffus, Moray, and despite the challenging windy conditions, our riders secured 2nd and 3rd place finishes. In Peebles, they also braved torrential rain to obtain another podium finish with a 3rd place. They showcased these top performances in senior women's races as juniors, which speaks volumes about their talent.
We couldn't be prouder of these riders and we look forward to seeing them shine throughout the season.
Best of luck to Daisy Taylor, Kayla Dinnin, Isla Easto, Molly Evans, Evie Field, Harriet Hendry, Isla McCutcheon and Millie Thomson.
