Social Security Scotland choose Dundee Central Waterfront for their HQ
17 September 2020
Ryden has secured Social Security Scotland as the tenant for Dundee Central Waterfront’s Earl Grey Building on a 20-year lease. The 66,358 sq ft office letting has the potential to bring up to 900 jobs to the city when it is transformed into the Scottish Government agency’s new headquarters. It is Dundee’s biggest office letting in a decade.
Known during development as Site 6, it is the first office building to be developed within the Dundee Central Waterfront project and has spectacular views over the V&A Dundee Museum of Design and excellent access to transport links. It will now undergo a tailored fitout to be ready for occupation in late spring 2021.
This deal comes rapidly after the announcement of an exclusivity agreement between Dundee City Council and Esports arena operator NLAE to investigate concepts for a purpose-built facility within Dundee Central Waterfront, and demonstrates fast-growing interest in Dundee as a great location.
Bill Marley, Development Agency Partner at Ryden said: “We are working closely with Dundee City Council and a number of developers to deliver quality accommodation to work, live and play in exceptional surroundings within Scotland's sunniest city. The letting of this grade A office is another significant milestone in the ongoing mixed use regeneration project”
The transformation of Dundee Waterfront is a joint venture between Dundee City Council and Scottish Enterprise. Ryden’s property advisory services include development advice, project management, letting and funding advice.
