Key milestone reached as new Aberdeen dolphin viewing centre development gets under way

Step one of the build programme that will transform an old artillery battery in Aberdeen into a world-class dolphin-viewing centre kicked off last week. The Greyhope Bay dolphin visitor centre development, project managed by Ryden, will see the transformation of huge shipping containers into a cutting-edge low-impact facility at Torry Battery.
Two 40 ft shipping containers were delivered from Greenwell Equipment in East Tullos to Dynamix Modular's workshop in Arbroath. The containers have been donated by Greenwell, with Colin Lawson Transport providing transport of the containers and Dynamix Modular donating person-hours to complete the conversion.
These three organisations are part of a wider local team supporting the build, including Ryden, Prof Gokay Deveci (Robert Gordon University), JCE Energy, Pure Water Scotland, NorDan UK, Graeme W. Cheyne, Cameron + Ross and Safety Scotland.
The project's development will secure an innovative future for the Torry Battery while protecting its position as a key site of environmental and historical significance.
The goal is to have a vibrant new destination for members of the community and visitors alike within the heart of Aberdeen city. It will also provide younger people with educational opportunities so the next generation can learn about the importance of Torry Battery's local history and the natural heritage on our doorstep.
