Bangour Village Redevelopment Gets Green Light for First 412 Homes
25 April 2023
Ryden's Planning team has helped deliver a further approval from West Lothian Council for the first development phase for 412 homes as part of the broader project at Bangour Village on behalf of Ambassador Group Ltd.
This marks an exciting new chapter for the historic site, which will be transformed into a new community with up to 998 new homes, a primary school, and a community retail hub.
The redevelopment plans include the conversion of listed Victorian buildings into energy-efficient new homes, all set in 215 acres of mature woodland. It will also offer a mix of detached, semi-detached, and townhouses, with 20% of the properties dedicated to affordable housing.
One of the standout features will be the shared district heating system, which will be used to provide energy-efficient heating for all homes.
Ambassador Group has also promised to invest £150m into necessary infrastructure over the project's 10-year span, including constructing the new school that will use part of the site's original A-listed recreation hall.
Gordon Coster, managing director of Ambassador's developments division, commented:
"We are committed to honouring Bangour's legacy and working with the local community and stakeholders to create a sustainable future for this incredible location.
"We pride ourselves on being a good neighbour within the communities we build in.
"We have established a Community Liaison Group, which will work to keep open channels of communication between Ambassador, Bangour Village estate residents and the wider community.”
The estate has already been granted planning permission in principle for its overall masterplan, and initial infrastructure and groundworks have begun.
